    How hours are calculated

For each day, the calculator subtracts the clock-in time from clock-out (adding 24 hours for overnight shifts) and removes your unpaid break. Weekly hours above the overtime threshold (40 under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act) are paid at your overtime multiplier, typically 1.5×.

    The formula

Daily hours = (Out − In) − break
Pay = regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × multiplier

    Good to know

Some states, like California, also require daily overtime (over 8 hours in a day). This calculator uses weekly overtime only.

    What your results mean

Total hours are the sum of each day’s shift minus breaks. Hours over the overtime threshold (40 per week under federal law) are paid at the overtime multiplier.
